Yellow Thunder Amateur Radio Club - Meeting minutes from March 3, 2009 The meeting was called to order by President Steve Schulze (N9UDO) at 7:30 p.m. The minutes from the meeting on February 3, 2009 were distributed and reviewed. Don Evenson (K9JYX) made a motion to accept the minutes as presented, and Dave Spearing (KB9CSW) seconded the motion. A vote was taken, and the motion passed unanimously. Treasurer Don Evenson (K9JYX) reported that our balance as of 3-03-09 is $XXX.XX Old Business: The 2009 Circus City Swapfest will be August 22, 2009 at the Elks Club in downtown Baraboo. Steve (N9UDO) is close to having the poster ready for distribution. Don (K9JYX) made a motion for Steve (N9UDO) to forward the Swapfest information and posters to Badger State Smoke Signals when completed. The motion was seconded by Tom Harrison (N9PQJ) and the membership vote was unanimous. UHF repeater linking project: no news to report. Regarding the D-Star project, Steve (N9UDO) has reapplied for the frequency pair. We are still waiting for more information for a possible Columbia County fox hunt this spring. New Business: Cliff Johnson (A9AFA) passed away Friday, 2-27-09, and is now a silent key. Visitation will be at Hooverson Funeral Home in Sauk Prairie on March 5, and the funeral will be at the Sauk Prairie Evangelical Free Church on March 6. Steve (N9UDO) made a motion, seconded by Don (K9JYX) to make a memorial donation to the CAP Scholarship Fund. The motion was unanimously approved. We have received a request from Columbia County ARES/RACES E.C. Rich Green (KC9FNM) for more people to assist with traffic control for the military funeral. Remember to join in the Wisconsin QSO party on Sunday, March 15, 2009, from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Weather Spotter training is March 19th. All are encouraged to attend! Boy Scouts of America Circus Heritage Days is coming up in May. Discussion began for a booth and possible balloon at this event, and will be continued at our next meeting. A motion was made by Don (K9JYX) at 9:00 p.m. to adjourn the meeting. It was seconded by Gary Sorensen (W9ULK), and the vote was unanimous. Our next meeting is April 7, 2009. Yellow Thunder Amateur Radio Club - Meeting minutes from April 7, 2009 The meeting was called to order by President Steve Schulze (N9UDO) at 7:30 p.m. The minutes from the meeting on March 3, 2009 were distributed and reviewed. Bill Stehling (KC9CVD) made a motion to accept the minutes as presented, and Tom Yager (KC9NJP) seconded the motion. A vote was taken, and the motion passed unanimously. Treasurer Don Evenson (K9JYX) had emailed his report to Steve (N9UDO). YTARC sent $30.00 to the CAP scholarship fund in memory of Cliff Johnson (N9AFA), silent key. $60.00 in dues was received this past month. This leaves us with a balance of $XXX.XX. The only outstanding bill is our liability insurance; $325.00 is due by May 1, 2009. Old Business: Dave Spearing (KB9CSW) reported that a few hams participated in the military funeral in Portage. Thank you to all who donated their time. Bill Stehling reported that several hams went to the visitation and/or funeral for Cliff Johnson (A9AFA). Gratitude was expressed for YTARC's donation to the CAP scholarship fund. Wisconsin QSO party: Both Steve (N9UDO) and Tom Harrison (N9PQJ) participated. BSA Circus Heritage Days is coming up in May. Ideas discussed included sending up a balloon, setting up a radio table, and setting up PSK. Final plans will be made at our next meeting (May 5, 2009). UHF linking project: Bob Naegele (W9MZ) reported that Richland Center is still working on tower and Yagi issues. It was noted that several members had recently attended weather spotter training classes. New Business: 2009 Circus City Swapfest is Saturday, August 22, 2009 at the Elks Club Lodge in Baraboo! Fliers are available and can be downloaded from www.yellowthunder.org. Members have taken the fliers to Jefferson and A.E.S. swapfests, and will be taken to MARA. Special thanks to Brad Pointon (KB9VMC) for donating this year's grand prize: an Icom IC2200H mobile radio! After some discussion, Tom (N9PQJ) volunteered to investigate ARRL's radio equipment insurance policy options. Tom (N9PQJ) will also work with Don Evenson (K9JYX) to review our liability insurance options. A motion was made by Bob Naegele (W9MZ) at 9:00 p.m. to adjourn the meeting. It was seconded by Bob Garske (W9EWW), and the vote was unanimous. Our next meeting will be May 5, 2009.

Steve (N9UDO) presented the treasurer's report. Our current balance is $XXX.XX. Old Business: Insurance: Information is still being gathered. UHF linking project: Richland Center is working on combining system and/or antenna issues. BSA Circus Heritage Days: The event is May 16 at the fairgrounds, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We will be at the north end of the commercial building. YTARC hopes to be able to present 40m HF, digital-PSK, and possibly other voice modes. SwapFest: We have been ARRL sanctioned! We are still researching facility issues. Stay tuned! |
